Ron Paul Campaign Nets Almost $10.4 million in Q1 Keeping Paul Competitive Ahead of Texas

Also cites $2.6 million-plus raised in March alone, cash on hand near $1.8 million and zero debt

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced today that it raised nearly $10.4 million in the first fundraising quarter of 2012, providing it with ample resources to sustain a 50-state race with establishment-choice Mitt Romney as well as compete decisively in Congressman Paul’s home state of Texas.

For the fundraising quarter ending March 31, 2012, or Q1, total campaign contributions approached $10.4 million.  In addition to the impressive eight-figure fundraising total for the quarter, the campaign is announcing that total contributions for the month of March alone exceeded $2.6 million.  Other details include total cash on hand of nearly $1.8 million and zero debt, as is customary.  Especially noteworthy is that these figures exclude the nearly $1.4 million raised during the campaign’s Tax Day money bomb, or online fundraising event.

“Total contributions of $10.4 million in Q1, including details such as $1.8 million cash on hand and more money bomb cash in the pipeline, amounts to excellent news as these resources fuel our effective delegate-attainment strategy.  These ample funds also will help us compete even harder in Texas, where Ron Paul is the only Texan, veteran, and authentic conservative running,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

“I want to thank Ron Paul’s contributors, who are almost exclusively small-donation supporters and who continue putting their trust in Dr. Paul, his message, and his organization,” added Mr. Benton.

Ron Paul Outraises GOP Candidates and Obama Among Active Military

Texas Congressman Ron Paul, a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, outraised his fellow GOP candidates and President Barack Obama among active members of the US Armed Forces in the 3Q 2011. According to a campaign press release, Paul hauled in $75,000 from active military in the 3Q 2011. According to an independent analysis of military donation receipts, Paul also raised more from active military than all of his fellow GOP candidates combined.

 

Contributions to Paul’s presidential campaign accounted for 70 percent of the military donation receipts for Republican candidates in the 3Q 2011.

Ron Paul to Attend Iowa GOP Reagan Dinner

ANKENY, Iowa -The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign today announced that Congressman Paul will attend the Iowa state Republican Party’s Reagan Dinner.

 

After finishing second in the recent Iowa Straw Poll in Ames by less than one percent, Paul has continued to make Iowa a top priority for his 2012 Presidential campaign.

Ron Paul’s Latest Moneybomb Nets More Than $2.75 Million

‘Black This Out’ theme inspires small contributors

 

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign announced today that its latest money bomb dubbed “Black This Out” netted more than $2.75 million in small donations.

 

The money bomb, or online fundraising event, began at midnight on October 19th and concluded today, October 24th, at noon.

 

Ron Paul supporters in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, and U.S. military installations made a total of 44,527 donations, with 40,494 of these donations unique ones.  The mean or average donation over this period was $61.92 while the median contribution was $25, demonstrating the broad support Dr. Paul gets from everyday concerned citizens.

 

“This moneybomb’s success conveys that Ron Paul’s supporters, whether independent or loosely organized, are poised to dig in deep and back him even during this government-imposed economic downturn,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

 

“This block of voters supporting Dr. Paul is growing and is comprised of generous Americans having no plans to switch to another candidate,” said Mr. Benton.

 Looking for a sign of the “super PAC” sea change in campaign finance? Even Texas Rep. Ron Paul—whose official campaign has been bolstered by legions of small donors—stands to benefit from an outside group that can spend unlimited donations in secret until after a string of key nominating contests occur.

The Los Angeles Times/Tribune Washington Bureau noted Thursday that independent groups expected to spend heavily in the primaries on advertising and voter outreach for their preferred candidate will not have to report their donors after the first five primaries and caucuses.

Ron Paul: Foreign Policy Is Economic Policy

Leading recipient of military donations suggests that curbing expenditures overseas can ease financial troubles at home.

NORTHBROOK, IL – While most GOP candidates at Monday’s CNN/Tea Party Express Debate obliged by neatly compartmentalizing the issues, Rep. Ron Paul broke from the pack by suggesting, yet again, that foreign policy expenditures impact America’s economic prosperity.

Connecting the dots, Rep. Paul explained that Social Security would be solvent today if money had not been carelessly spent on foreign adventurism and redundant domestic programs. Paul referenced his Social Security Preservation Act, introduced by the Texas congressman seven times since 1999, which aims to safeguard the Social Security trust funds and shield them from the public debt limit.

When asked how Washington, D.C., can balance the budget while protecting programs upon which seniors and others have come to rely, Rep. Paul suggested that our obligations can be met with cuts to the $1.5 trillion in spending on the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, a figure that Brown University has projected may ultimately climb to more than $4 trillion when considering future veterans care expenditures.

“We need to look at our $1.5 billion embassy in Baghdad that’s bigger than the Vatican … our 900 bases around the world,” Paul explained Monday. “That’s where we need to cut.”

“We’re talking about how to pay for a tax cut, but it’s the people’s money!” Paul insisted. “No policing of the world. No nation building. This is the George Bush platform of 2000.”

As in the 2008 election, Rep. Paul enjoys unrivaled support among those who list the military as their employer. FEC’s Q2 2011 records show that he outraised his GOP counterparts’ total military donations by a 2-to-1 margin. Paul also outraised President Obama.

Paul’s performance Monday further validates a key assertion of Revolution PAC’s bombshell ad, “Plastic Men,” released Monday: “Only Ron Paul listens to our founding fathers, who warned that constant war means debt, taxes and the destruction of a republic.”

Revolution PAC is bolstering Ron Paul’s consistent, constitutional message with targeted TV advertising campaigns complemented by billboards and radio ads in key primary states. Proceeds generated by Revolution PAC’s September 19 “Super Bomb” fundraiser will support the airing of the 60-second commercial, “Plastic Men,” in the months to come. New FEC ruling permits Ron Paul to speak and raise funds for Super PAC

Alexander Burns of Politico recently reported on a new FEC Ruling that creates a stunning opportunity for Ron Paul to put his weight behind the Revolution Super PAC. In the article Burns quotes Peter Stone’s report from the Center for Public Integrity:

“The FEC in its advisory ruling last month reaffirmed that members of Congress and presidential candidates can attend and speak at events hosted by independent super PACs, but they are personally not allowed to solicit the unlimited funds, only contributions up to $5,000 per year.”

This revelation was also affirmed recently by Politico’s Kenneth Vogel:

“Under the ruling, they can even attend fundraisers for them at which unlimited checks are collected “so long as the officeholders, candidates, and officers of national party committees restrict any solicitations they make to funds subject to the limitations, prohibitions, and reporting requirements” of federal campaign laws.”

Restore our Future, the Super PAC formed by Mitt Romney supporters, raised over 12 million dollars when Romney simply stood behind his PAC. Ron Paul now has the opportunity to challenge Romney’s Super PAC by simply speaking and soliciting support for the Revolution PAC. The question remains, will he?

In a quote to Vogel, Jesse Benton, Ron Paul’s Campaign Chairman took a hard line against any communications with the PAC, “The expert legal advice I received was that all contact must be avoided, and failing to do so would put Dr. Paul, our campaign and the PAC organizers in jeopardy of civil and criminal penalties.”

The FEC issued a press release on the Ruling known as “Advisory Opinion 2011-12” that explicitly concluded:

“Federal candidates and officeholders and officers of national party committees may solicit contributions up to $5,000 from individuals and federal political committees on behalf of the PACs.”

The Commission further concluded:

“Consistent with current Commission regulations, that federal officeholders and candidates and officers of national party committees may attend, speak at and be featured guests at fundraisers at which unlimited individual, corporate and labor organization contributions are solicited to make contributions to the PACs, so long as they restrict any solicitation they make to funds subject to the limitations, prohibitions and reporting requirements [under section 441(e)] of the Act.”

FEC law prohibits the Ron Paul Presidential Campaign to have “coordinated communication on independent expenditures” with the Revolution PAC, meaning they can’t tell the PAC how to spend money they raise. However this ruling opens the door for communication to begin, allowing Ron Paul to fully support and solicit contributions for the Revolution PAC’s efforts.

Given the weight of this ruling “contact” would certainly occur between the Campaign and the Super PAC to coordinate solicitation of contributions and speaking engagements. This ruling removes any legal restraints that Benton has been advised on absolving him of the need to enforce his “all contact must be avoided” position.

Ron Paul Receives Most Military Donations

Ron Paul continues to get the most military donations of any candidate, but of particular note is the wide disparity. Also note that although Rick Santorum claims to support the troops, they sure as heck don’t support him. Reports Digital Journal:

“Although Texas Republican Congressman Ron Paul may be ignored throughout the mainstream media, one report shows that the presidential candidate may have strong support from the country’s military personnel.

Dr. Paul was able to produce $36,739.79 in donations from U.S. military personnel. His closest Republican competitor was Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain, who raised $6,223.
